Two pieces: the app on your iPad, and the agent on the machine you want to work on. The rendezvous server is optional — only if you want to run your own.

Host agent 1.0.0 is available now (Linux + macOS). The iPad app and the self-hosted rendezvous binary are releasing soon.

1 · iPad app Releasing soon

Requires iPadOS 15 or later. Free to use on your own network. App Store listing is on the way — meanwhile you can already install the host agent below.

2 · Host agent

Install this on every machine you want to reach — a Linux desktop, a headless server, a VPS, or a Mac. Each one serves its filesystem and a login shell to your paired iPads, and nothing else. Release V1.0.0 on GitHub.

macOS

macOS 12 or later. Ships as a menu-bar app that supervises the agent.

3 · Rendezvous server Releasing soon — optional

You do not need this for LAN use. Remote access and a self-hosted introducer binary are releasing soon — a single static binary with no database, for people who would rather not rely on our hosted introducer.

Hosted introducer: wss://rendezvous.spadeide.com — default baked into the app and the agent once remote access ships. Leave the Rendezvous URL field empty in the app to use whatever the current default is.

Verifying a download

Every agent release ships SHA256SUMS.txt alongside the artifacts.

curl -fsSL -O https://github.com/SpadeIDE/spadeide-agent/releases/download/V1.0.0/SHA256SUMS.txt
shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing

The macOS app is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarised, so Gatekeeper opens it without a warning. If macOS complains, the file was modified in transit — download it again rather than overriding the warning.
